Christopher Manning represents individual and corporate clients in complex, high-profile civil and criminal litigation. Mr. Manning has appeared for trial, evidentiary hearings, motions practice, and appellate arguments in state and federal courts in the District of Columbia, California, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Texas, and Virginia. He also routinely advises clients across the country and around the world on matters relating to actual or prospective litigation in the United States.

Mr. Manning has extensive civil litigation experience as both plaintiffs' and defense counsel, and across a considerable array of subject areas, including antitrust, contract, copyright, defamation, medicine, privacy, securities, sports, and telecommunications. In 2006, Mr. Manning completed a multi-year representation of a qui tam plaintiff that resulted in one of the top 25 settlement awards ever reported under the False Claims Act. As defense counsel, Mr. Manning has successfully resolved a number of civil actions on motions to dismiss or on summary judgment, and he has successfully defended such results on appeal.

In his criminal defense practice, Mr. Manning has represented corporations, corporate executives and directors, public officials, and other individuals and entities under investigation or indictment for criminal antitrust violations, public corruption, securities violations, tax fraud, and other criminal offenses. Mr. Manning also represents clients involved in Congressional or administrative investigations, and he conducts internal investigations to advise clients of potential legal risks.

Before joining Williams & Connolly LLP, Mr. Manning served as a law clerk to the Honorable Dennis Jacobs, currently the Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Mr. Manning is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University and Harvard Law School.

A native Washingtonian, Mr. Manning serves on the Board of Trustees of Landon School, on the Shining Star Gala Committee of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School, and as a guest lecturer and mock trial coach for Dunbar Senior High School.
