| Identified as one of "Washington's Top Lawyers" by Washingtonian magazine (December 2004), Laurie Fulton has a national practice in federal and state courts in complex civil litigation, internal investigations and white collar criminal defense. Her areas of practice include general civil litigation, class actions, congressional investigations, internal investigations, privacy and data security, products liability, State Attorney General investigations, trade control, and white-collar criminal defense.
Ms. Fulton has served as national litigation counsel in consumer class action lawsuits and products liability litigation. Her recent victories include winning summary judgment in federal court on behalf of ChoicePoint in consumer class action litigation related to a widely-publicized data breach incident. Ms. Fulton's recent trials include representation of the non-settling States and the District of Columbia in the antitrust remedies proceedings before Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly in U.S. District Court, D.C. in March-June 2002. Representative clients include Bechtel, ChoicePoint Inc., General Electric Company, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Merck and Company, and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Ms. Fulton has represented a variety of clients charged with various white-collar crimes in federal grand jury and court proceedings. These include federal criminal antitrust, bank gratuities, fraud, false statements, theft of government property and trade-control matters. She has handled complicated matters involving civil, criminal and parallel proceedings in state, federal, and foreign courts and agencies. In a high profile matter, she represented a Fortune 50 company in related civil and criminal cases in multiple domestic and international forums, resulting in successful recovery of millions of dollars stolen by a former executive and hidden in bank accounts in Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.
Ms. Fulton has represented clients in matters before Congressional committees, the Federal Trade Commission, Office of Export Enforcement of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the Federal Election Commission. She also represents clients in large commercial disputes before the American Arbitration Association.
Ms. Fulton is co-chair of the Criminal Litigation Committee of the Section of Litigation of the American Bar Association.
