| In his more than twenty years at Williams & Connolly LLP, Steven Kuney has been responsible for a variety of major litigation matters - as lead or co-lead counsel - at the trial court and appellate level, including civil and criminal antitrust litigation. Identified as one of "Washington's Top Lawyers" by Washingtonian magazine (December 2004), his representative recent litigation clients include Knight-Ridder, Inc., Textron, Inc., Archer Daniels Midland Co., and General Electric Company. He recently served as one of the lead counsel representing the non-settling states in State of New York v. Microsoft, the remedies phase of the antitrust suit against Microsoft originally filed by the Department of Justice and nineteen states. He has also served as one of the lead counsel for Archer Daniels Midland in the numerous class-action antitrust suits relating to alleged price-fixing in several industries. His previous litigation accomplishments include successfully litigating a contested merger before the Federal Trade Commission, and succeeding at trial and on appeal as counsel for the plaintiff in a rule of reason tying case. Mr. Kuney also has provided antitrust counseling for clients in several industries, including automobile distribution, film production and distribution, and electronic publishing.
Through his antitrust and other work, Mr. Kuney has represented clients in a number of cases at the trial and appellate level, including in the U.S. Supreme Court case General Electric v. Joiner, and has appeared on a number of panels, concerning issues relating to the admissibility of expert testimony. Since 1995, Mr. Kuney has been an adjunct professor of law, teaching Antitrust Law, at Georgetown University Law Center. Previously, he was an adjunct instructor of Antitrust Law at the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America.
